New project underway at Marimor

LIMA — A new project at Marimor is hoping to make the great days at the facility even greater. Marimor had previously partnered with the Allen County Education Service Center to move their special education program, Great Day Academy, into Marimor’s building. Great Day Academy serves children, preschool to school age, with autism. The program began at Marimor fall of 2021.

Van Wert man headed to prison for home invasion, assault

LIMA —What started as a love triangle ended Thursday with a Van Wert man heading off to begin a four-year prison term for assaulting his romantic rival. Craig Hirschy, 33, was convicted by a jury on May 3 in Allen County Common Pleas Court on a first-degree felony count of aggravated burglary. Prosecutors said Hirschy broke into a home in the 2700 block of Lowell Avenue in Lima on the evening of Dec. 6, 2021, and attacked 41-year-old Thomas Blair.

Lima sees draft for Vision 2040

LIMA — Officials in Lima got their first chance to look at “Vision 2040” on Wednesday afternoon. The Lima/Allen County Regional Planning Commission completed a draft for a comprehensive plan for the city. The name depicts the overall goal of the plan, to create a vision for the next several decades in Lima. The city of Lima will begin to implement Vision 2040 once approved by the city council.

Sreenan starts campaign for statehouse

LIMA — Dr. JJ Sreenan kicked off his campaign for state representative on Wednesday, saying he got in the race to protect constitutional rights and freedoms. “I am running for state representative because I am witnessing the erosion of our constitutional God-given rights and freedoms by left-minded politicians and educators,” Sreenan said in his mission statement. “This became particularly apparent during the COVID pandemic. While most citizens have chosen to remain silent and passive, I am choosing for the sake of my children and their generation to become involved in reversing the erosion of our rights and freedoms.”
