Early voting begins Thursday. Here's what to know in Frederick County.

Primary Election Day is July 19, but Frederick County residents can head to the polls as early as Thursday, the start of an early-voting period. Most races on the ballot are for registered Democrats or Republicans. However, all registered voters — including those who unaffiliated — can choose Frederick County Board of Education candidates. School board elections in Maryland are nonpartisan.

Money for Frederick trail bridge included in appropriations bill

A major Frederick transportation project is a step closer to reality after construction money was included in a federal spending bill. An appropriations bill for Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies approved by the Appropriations Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives last week included $4 million for the city of Frederick's East Street Trail Liberty Road Bridge Crossing.
