Nano Satellite Startup Swarm Gains FCC Approval for Commercial Launch

Swarm Technologies recently announced that it has gained a full regulatory approval from FCC to operate commercially in the US. Founded in 2016, Swarm Technologies is a satellite company that aims to provide low-cost global connectivity. The company’s SpaceBEE satellites are tiny things that will provide a connection to a wide array of devices.

OPPO, Ericsson, and MediaTek Showcase VoNR Voice and Video Calls over 5G

OPPO announced that it has successfully conducted voice and video calls solely based on the next-generation 5G network, bringing high-quality 5G experience closer to reality. Partnering with Ericsson and MediaTek, the VoNR (Voice/Video on New Radio) calls were made on a modified commercial smartphone from OPPO. Featuring MediaTek's Dimensity 1000 series SoC using an end-to-end 5G Standalone (SA) network powered by Ericsson Radio System products and solutions.

Globe Telecom to Acquire US-based Cloud Consulting Firm Cascadeo for $4M

Globe Telecom has entered into an agreement to acquire substantially all of the assets of US-based Cloud Consulting Companies, Cascadeo and Cascadeo Partners for US $4M. Founded in 2006, Cascadeo is one of only a few elite AWS Premier Consulting Partners in North America and is also a Managed Services Provider. The company's expertise is on automation, Cloud-Native Platform as a Service, Data Analytics, Serverless Infrastructure and programmatic security.

Deutsche Telekom Signs NB-IoT Roaming Agreement with Swisscom, Telia Company and Vodafone

Deutsche Telekom has signed its first NarrowBand IoT (NB-IoT) roaming agreements with several European operator partners. The cooperation with Swisscom, Telia Company and Vodafone brings Mobile IoT roaming services to a further nine European countries. Deutsche Telekom currently offers NB-IoT roaming in nine of its own markets. The roaming agreements address customer demand for international coverage and service continuity for their fast-growing number of IoT devices. Only managed mobile services on licensed spectrum provide the network interoperability and secure IoT connections needed to meet future demand. Additional NB-IoT roaming agreements with further operator partners are expected in the coming months.

Verizon Business Boosts Unified Communications Portfolio with BlueJeans Acquisition

Verizon Business announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire BlueJeans Network, a trusted enterprise-grade video conferencing and event platform. The acquisition expands Verizon’s immersive unified communications portfolio. BlueJeans’ cloud-based video service currently serves a wide variety of business segments from small organizations to some of the world’s largest multinational brands, and has played a significant part in continuing those companies’ operations during the ongoing work-from-home surge.
