Several injured after possible shooting at Curry County Fair

CURRY COUNTY, N.M. (KFDA) - Late last night, Curry County officials responded to a call about shots being fired at the Curry County Fair. According to the report, on Tuesday Aug. 18, at around 8:50 p.m., officers were called near the south-end of the midway at the Curry County Fair on reports of someone shooting.

AN ALTERCATION ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT’S DOLLAR RIDE NIGHT RESULT IN MAJOR CHAOS

On August 17, 2022, at 8:50 PM, numerous reports were made to law enforcement of someone shooting on the south-end of the midway at the Curry County Fair. Personnel from the Curry County Sheriff’s Office, New Mexico State Police and Clovis Police Department immediately converged on that location, but did not encounter a person or persons firing a weapon. The investigation, thus far, has determined that a verbal and physical conflict occurred between two groups.

PORTALES WOMEN CHARGED WITH HOMICIDE AND DUI FROM TUESDAY NIGHT CRASH

In a Wednesday press release from the Portales Police Department, the following has been reported about the late Tuesday night vehicle collision. On Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at approximately 11:17 p.m. the Portales Police and Fire Departments responded to a reported motor vehicle crash at the intersection of West 18th Street and South Avenue D (New Mexico 206). Upon arrival officers observed two passenger cars had been involved in the crash and multiple occupants were transported to Roosevelt General Hospital for injuries. One driver, thirty-five-year-old Laura Fernandez of Portales, was not transported and was determined to be deceased at the scene.
