Piper Sandler Sets New Street-High Tesla Stock Price Target (TSLA)

Piper Sandler analyst Alex Potter has issued an updated note on Tesla stock, increasing the firm's price target to the highest on Wall Street. We are reiterating our Overweight rating and boosting our price target from $1,200 to $1,300, following Tesla's breakout Q3 results. Rather than re-hashing the quarter, or "piling on" to the bullishness following a big order from Hertz, we prefer to focus on three other insights that we think are getting overlooked.

Breaking: Tesla Announces "Tesla Bot"

During their AI Day event, Tesla announced that they're working on developing a humanoid bot to eliminate repetitive and dangerous tasks. Musk also pondered what the world would look like if there was no shortage of labor. Jokingly, Musk also mentioned that the Tesla Bot will be capable enough to accomplish tedious tasks but not capable enough to overpower an individual. The Bot also allowed Musk to postulate on the need for Universal Basic Income, "not right now because the robot doesn't work."

Tesla Stock Sells off While Institutions Continue to Buy.

In a market filled with liquidity, the "buy the dip mentality" continues to persist. This appears to be true with Tesla stock and institutions. Q3 has been on pace to be the first quarter since Q4 2020 to have an overall net inflow of Tesla stock into institutions—those with at least $100 million under management.
