Terrebonne Recreation flag football league registration begins today, May 23!. The league is open to children ages 7 through 12. Peewee League ages 7-8, Jr. Varsity League ages 9-10, and Varsity league ages 11-12. Registration remains opened until June 24, but it is encouraged to register early because rosters fill quickly!

Bicyclist dies after struck by pickup near Houma

HOUMA, La. — Authorities say a 21-year-old from Gray, La., has died after being struck by car while he was riding a bike on the shoulder of LA Hwy 660 on Tuesday. Louisiana State Police say the crash, which claimed the life of Colby Prestenback, happened shortly after 5 p.m. near the intersection of Bayou Gardens Boulevard.

Championship ceremony honors local champs

Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government held a ceremony on Sunday, May 22, honoring area high school teams and athletes for winning championship titles. Parish leaders, parents, coaches, and supporters gathered at the Barry P. Bonvillain Houma-Terrebonne Civic Center on Sunday afternoon to celebrate an abundance of student athlete victories. The Vandebilt Catholic High School baseball team, cross country, and outdoor track team, South Terrebonne High School baseball, and Ellender High School girls basketball team were recognized for state championship wins. The Terrebonne Gators Special Olympics team was also recognized for winning a championship. In addition, individual championship athletes from South Terrebonne powerlifting and Houma Christian track, were recognized.

Owner of nursing homes evacuated to warehouse during Ida cut from federal healthcare

The man who owned the Louisiana nursing homes that were evacuated to a warehouse where at least seven people died can no longer participate in federal health care programs. Inspector General Christi A. Grimm announced Monday that Bob Dean Jr. was excluded from participation because of "his ownership interest" in the seven homes that were previously excluded by the inspector general's office, according to a news release.

21-year-old bicyclist dies in crash on LA Hwy 660

TERREBONNE PARISH, La (BRPROUD) — Louisiana State Troopers responded to a call on May 187 regarding a crash involving a bicyclist on LA Hwy 660 around 5 p.m. During the investigation, deputies revealed that 21-year-old Colby Prestenback was riding a bike south on the northbound shoulder of Louisiana Hwy 660 approaching the intersection at Bayou Gardens Boulevard.

Team Terrebonne scored an 18-12 win over Team Lafourche in a game that featured tons of offense with 25 total base hits between the teams. Four of those hits left the yard with H.L. Two men arrested for woman's murder 7 years after she was killed

HOUMA - Seven years after she was found shot to death, officers have arrested two men suspected of killing a woman and kidnapping two children from her home. According to the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office, on Dec. 1, 2015, officers found two young girls in Houma that said they had been kidnapped from their home in Bourg the night before.
