Barbour County man accused of strangulation and other crimes

MOATSVILLE, W.Va (WDTV) - A Barbour County man has been arrested for strangulation and other crimes he is accused of committing a month prior. On Monday, the Barbour County Sheriff’s department was called to a house in Moatsville for a domestic situation. At the scene, the victim was crying and told a deputy that Robert Allen Swiger put his hands around her neck and choked her, according to the criminal complaint. Swiger, 31, also allegedly threatened to kill the victim. Swiger reportedly ran out the back of the house and deputies say he was placed in custody after a short foot pursuit.

Parkersburg man charged after pursuit through Monongalia County

WESTOVER, W.Va. — A Parkersburg man has been charged after a pursuit through Monongalia County. On July 26, troopers with the Morgantown detachment of the West Virginia State Police assisted in a vehicle pursuit of a 1994 Dodge Dakota which began at JC Penney’s at the mall near Westover, according to a criminal complaint.

MORGANTOWN — A real estate company claims Tykee Smith, the All-American former WVU football player who transferred to Georgia, owes it almost $8,000. Dark Knight LLC, which owns Chateau Royale, sued Smith in Monongalia County Magistrate Court on June 3. According to the civil complaint, Smith “owes rent, late fees, yearly garbage.” It seeks $7,941 plus court costs.
