Dan Jacobson age 65, of Broken Bow, NE passed away December 3, 2021, as of results of injuries in an auto accident. Funeral services will be December 7, 2021, at 2:00 pm at Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Broken Bow with Pastor Kathy Salts PMA officiating. Burial will be in the Broken Bow Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Our Saviour Lutheran Church. A visitation will take place on Monday, December 6, 2021, from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm with family greeting 5:00 t0 7:00 pm at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow. Broken Bow man killed in car crash

NEAR OCONTO, Neb. (KSNB) - A Broken Bow man died in an unusual crash involving a pick-up that was parked on a highway. The Custer County Sheriff’s office reports that 65-year-old Daniel Jacobson was killed. Jacobson was driving north on Highway 21 about a mile south of Oconto in Custer County. His car struck a unoccupied pickup that was parked on the highway. The sheriff said the pickup had been involved in an earlier rollover accident. Jacobson’s accident happened just before 6 a.m. Friday.

Police Sgt doing well, fire electrical in nature

Broken Bow Police Sgt. Shane Fiorelli is doing fine. Fiorelli was transported to Melham Medical Center yesterday evening (Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2021) after entering a burning house to look for children. This morning, Fiorelli said he was at the hospital for a couple of hours for oxygen and IVs, then released. Today was a scheduled day off for Fiorelli. He said it will be a couple of days before everything clears his lungs.

Garage and vehicle destroyed by fire

The Broken Bow Fire Department was called to the scene of a fire at 1718 North B Street about 4:45 p.m. today (Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2021). When Kesia Ducker, a resident of the house, arrived from work and did not know where all the children were, Broken Bow Police Sgt. Fiorelli did not hesitate. He went inside the smoke filled house to make sure no one was in danger.

High School Basketball Scores 12/2

Broken Bow and Arcadia/Loup City tipped off their basketball seasons against one another Thursday night. The Broken Bow girls were red hot from the outside in the first half knocking down nine 3’s to open up a 43-8 halftime lead and won by a final of 57-14. Bow was led by Joscelyn Coleman and Makinley Tobey who each had a game high 13 points. ALC was led by Halie Kaslon who finished with a team high 7 points. The boys game was a tough defensive affair. Arcadia/Loup City led 17-6 at one point in the first half but Broken Bow would outscore the Rebels 32-10 the rest of the way to come back and win 38-27.
