FLUKER - Firefighters from 10 different departments helped tackle a massive fire at a scrapyard that raged all Friday evening into Saturday morning. Tangipahoa Fire officials said they first responded to the blaze before 6 p.m. Friday at a business on US 51, saying the response would "last long into the night." Around 11 a.m. Saturday, multiple departments were still at the scene getting the fire under control.

TPSO seeks leads in attempted armed robbery/carjacking in Loranger

The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office is seeking anyone with information about an attempted armed robbery/carjacking which occurred in Loranger on Tuesday afternoon. Just after 4:30 p.m., on May 17, 2022, a female shopper was attempting to leave the Dollar General Store on Highway 40 in Loranger when an unknown male approached her vehicle and attempted to rob her. The victim had just exited the store and was sitting in the driver's seat preparing to leave. As the victim was facing the passenger seat adjusting her personal belongings, she turned back around to discover the male standing in her open driver's doorway. The male then brandished a handgun, pointed it at her and demanded the keys to her vehicle. The victim managed to get away from the suspect and relocated inside the store and called for help. The suspect then fled the area in an unknown direction.

Hammond teenager charged after caught stealing in Amite

AMITE, La. (BRPROUD) – A 17-year-old has been arrested by the Amite City Police Department (ACPD) after running from police for burglarizing a person’s vehicle. ACPD says they received a call from a resident on May 17 around 7:30 a.m. about someone breaking into a car in the 500 block of North 1st Street. Police say the resident told them that they saw a person on the passenger side of the vehicle with the door open. When the suspect saw the resident coming outside, he ran towards the Tangipahoa Parish Fairgrounds and then into a wooded area, according to ACPD.
