Anyone who's been diagnosed with cancer knows how tough the fight to beat it can be. Many survivors say they also have difficulty returning to physical activities after their treatment. That is why the YMCA created a program to increase quality of life and decrease cancer fatigue, and some participants in Colorado say it has been life saving."It takes oxygen into every cell of my body, just working out," said Eileen Eastridge, who is battling metastatic breast cancer. Northern Door YMCA hosting Body Pump Launch

The Door County YMCA in Fish Creek is holding a free Body Pump Launch in December to bring back a popular fitness program. Instructor Amie Brey says due to the COVID restrictions for the past two years, the body pump program has been on hold. Turkey roasted at MDI YMCA 5K

BAR HARBOR — The Mount Desert Island YMCA Catch That Turkey 5K was held Nov. 27 under clear, blue skies. Fifty-three people came out to see if they could best the turkey, who got a head start on the runners. It was actually MDI YMCA CEO Ann Tikkanen who stepped into the turkey costume this year and Tikkanen ended up finishing in the middle of the pack.

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WJMN) – This year for Giving Tuesday, the YMCA of Marquette County is raising funds to bring back its LIVESTRONG program. LIVESTRONG at the YMCA helps adult cancer survivors reclaim their health and well-being following a cancer diagnosis. It’s a free 10-week program facilitated by YMCA certified instructors that are trained in cancer survivorship, post rehabilitation exercise and supportive cancer care. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the LIVESTRONG program at the Y hasn’t been able to be offered. The program is usually offered three times a year.
