Skoufis secures state funding for SUNY Orange BRIDGES program

NEWBURGH – It’s the giving season, and state Senator James Skoufis, (D, Cornwall) has secured $100,000 for SUNY Orange to help fund its BRIDGES program. That is a three-year set of non-credit workshops for those with developmental disabilities, such as young adults, help with their basic adulthood skills, so they can remain independent.

Running for seven days between Monday, 15 and Sunday, 21 November, Operation Sceptre saw officers using every tactic available including weapons sweeps and surrender bins to remove knives off the streets. Officers also carried out 97 stop searches; 11 of which recovered a knife. The operation resulted in 29 arrests in the county, with 10 of these having knives seized directly.
