Chautauqua County Kidnapping Trial Scheduled To Begin In November

MAYVILLE – A Ripley man will now stand trial for kidnapping in November. A Chautauqua County Court Clerk tells WNY News Now that jury selection in the trial for Isiah Fuentes, 22, will begin Nov. 5. Fuentes faces a nine count indictment related to the alleged assault and kidnapping of a victim in 2020 in the Village of Ripley.

DA Flynn: Three Others Reach Plea Agreements For Role In Ownbey Murder

MAYVILLE – The homicide case against a 22-year-old Jamestown man sentenced to prison Wednesday was more complicated than what was originally disclosed by law enforcement. Tavion Turner was sentenced to 21-years in prison, plus five years post-release supervision, after pleading guilty to first-degree manslaughter this summer in the 2017 death of Jamestown native Dyllan Ownbey. Turner was previously indicted on two counts of second-degree murder, which meant that he was accused of murder while in the process of committing a separate felony.

Chautauqua County Legislature Approves American Rescue Plan Spending Outline

MAYVILLE – The Chautauqua County Legislature voted Wednesday approving an outline allocating $24.6 million from the federal government part of the American Rescue Plan Act. The vote followed pushback from Jamestown Mayor Eddie Sundquist and Dunkirk Mayor Willie Rosas who expressed disappointment with how the county planned to spend the funding.
