Power outages and storm damage throughout Gogebic County

GOGEBIC COUNTY, Mich. (WLUC) - There are power outages and extensive storm damage within Gogebic County after a thunderstorm early Tuesday morning. According to the Ironwood Public Safety, it will be hours, if not days, until power is restored and damage is cleaned up. Ironwood Public Safety says residents within the area must remain at home, and let officials work on clean-up efforts.

Perkins woman arrested on OWI-causing death charge for July 11 crash

DELTA COUNTY, Mich. (WLUC) - A Perkins woman has been arrested following a crash that killed a Gladstone man earlier this month. According to the Gladstone Public Safety Department, at about 3:29 a.m. July 11, 2021, officers were sent to M-35, near North Bluff Drive, for a report of a man down on the side of the road.

2 rescued off Porters Island near Copper Harbor

COPPER HARBOR, Mich. (WLUC) - Two people were rescued off an island near Copper Harbor Friday night after being stranded in the rough waters. According to the Keweenaw County Sheriff’s Office, the pair’s inflatable boat was overtaken by Lake Superior’s high waves and they made it onto Porters Island. The sheriff’s office deputies were also told the two people were cold, wet and didn’t have the proper clothing.

U.P. All Star Football week kicks off with food drive

They’ll have a week of meetings, practices and even a youth camp leading up to the big game on Saturday. For Monday’s check-in players donated non-perishable food to St. Vincent De Paul.
