Water main break floods street in Northeast Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A water main break flooded a road in Northeast Philadelphia Wednesday morning. According to the water department, a leak was detected around 7 a.m. along Ashton Road, between Grant Avenue and Willits Road. The road is currently closed by the fire department. Video from Chopper 3 shows water filling up part of the street. The Water Department believes two properties are without water access. Repairs are scheduled and service will be restored as soon as possible.Customers who believe their water service or property is affected should call (215) 685-6300 to report any issues.

Osceola enters stage two of water conservation measures

The Osceola Water Board approved 5-0 moving to the second stage of the water conservation plan, ‘Water Warning - Restrictions,’ at the board meeting on Nov. 3. At the meeting, Osceola Water Works Superintendent Brandon Patterson updated the board on the current water level at West Lake, which was 3.5 feet below the spillway. A graph showing pool elevation levels, surface area, and more calculated the cumulative days of water supply at 306. Osceola had been in stage one of the water conservation plan, ‘Water Watch - Voluntary Conservation Measures,’ since an emergency board meeting on Sept. 20 when the lake level was 30 inches below the spillway.

Construction ahead: Major road and water work planned for South Main Street

Bowling Green City Council heard ordinances last week that will make major improvements beneath and on the surface of South Main Street. The work is hoped to eliminate the flooding issues along South Main Street, replace aging water mains, resurface the road, create a 10-foot shared use path along the west side of the roadway, and possibly put a crosswalk in the block between Napoleon and Gypsy Lane roads.

State officials are encouraging Benton Harbor residents to test their homes for lead as service line replacement concludes in the southwest Michigan city. The state is coordinating free home lead inspection and abatement services as part of an "all-hands-on-deck" response to city residents who for years have dealt with a lead crisis caused by elevated levels of the neurotoxin in the city's water system.
