House in Xalapa / Lopez Gonzalez Studio

Description courtesy of Alfonso Fierro. Envisioned for a growing family, the house proposes a form of dwelling organized around a continuous dialogue with the landscape in which it is located. The dark exterior grants it a solid stature, while simultaneously evoking the possibility of a home carved in the interior of a rock formation. Certain formal gestures complement this suggestion, like the sectioning of the house’s volumes that hints at the form of a crack, or the windows that appear sporadically, yet with a balanced rhythm, in different parts of the wall. Furthermore, the tour inside proposes a game of changing lights and shadows, with paths that open and close, tighten and widen, and flow into open spaces that secure both fresh air and privacy.

Metro Detroit weather: Warming up with Friday sunshine

DETROIT – Happy Friday!. Our rainy and cloudy skies are breaking up and moving on, at least temporarily, and the clouds we have this Friday morning are high and harmless. It is a crisp start with temperatures in the 40s as you head out, with a bit of a breeze making it feel a bit cooler, but we won’t get into wind chills just yet.

Friday links: wrong and alone

"Being wrong and alone is what gets asset managers fired." High beta and low vol have been in a stalemate during 2021. One big lesson we can learn from the careers of Ben Graham and Jesse Livermore. Cooler Saturday, Summer-like temperatures Sunday

A few rain chances will remain in the area through this evening as we keep an eye on a fairly weak cold front moving through the region. Some light showers are currently being observed near our northern counties and it looks like the front should continue to push those showers south towards I-70.

Repeat of Thursday for today

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - Thursday’s temps were slightly above average in the mid to upper 80s across the South Plains. Today is expected to be very similar. A mild start to the day today, not quite as cool as the last 2 mornings thanks to some cloud cover hanging around. This kept temperatures in the 50s/60s overnight. Mostly cloudy skies will break up and give way to some sunshine this afternoon with temperatures warming up into the mid to upper 80s again. Similar to yesterday, we will be breezy into the afternoon with winds from the south around 15-20 mph.

Flood threat looms as NY, NJ get hit with more heavy rain

NEW YORK — A slow-moving cold front brought the potential for flooding with serious downpours Thursday night. The rain should diminish in intensity during the overnight hours; however the showers will linger into Friday morning. Numerous flash flood warnings were issued across Northern New Jersey as rainfall rates in excess of 2 inches per hour caused flooding on area roadways and winds have been gusty causing a few scattered power outages as well.

Warming up for the first weekend of fall!

High pressure building over the area will bring sunny, warm weather this weekend. An exception to that will be a weak weather system bringing a chance of thunderstorms along the Utah/Arizona border Sunday afternoon and evening. Gusty winds will be possible. A stronger storm will brush by next Tuesday and Wednesday and bring much cooler weather along with a chance of showers.
