A power plant in Colorado Springs may stop burning coal in order to have cleaner energy

As part of a transition to cleaner energy within Colorado Springs Utilities, the Martin Drake Power Plant is aiming to stop burning coal in September. There is only one coal-burning unit left at Drake which is a generator that was built in 1968 that produces 77 megawatts of power or about 7% of the power produced through all of Utilies' gas, oil, and coal generators.

Rio Rancho water and sewer service is continuing under the existing city contractor for almost $8.3 million a year, with a governing body vote Thursday night. During their meeting at City Hall, Rio Rancho Governing Body members voted unanimously, with Councilor Jeremy Lenentine absent, to approve a new contract with Operations Management International Inc., the city’s water and wastewater utility operator. Louisiana sees continued growth in not seasonally adjusted employment

BATON ROUGE – Louisiana’s not seasonally adjusted number of employed individuals increased both over the month and over the year for the third consecutive month. The June 2021 estimate of 1,936,239 shows a gain from June 2020 of 162,778 employed individuals, according to a Louisiana Workforce Commission release. The figure also shows an increase of 3,842 employed individuals from the revised May 2021 figure of 1,932,397.
