Man shot by police after opening fire at undercover officers targeting street racing

DETROIT – A man was wounded by undercover officers after opening fire at them over the weekend in Detroit, The Associated Press reports. The officers were targeting illegal street racing when someone nearly struck their unmarked police vehicle late Friday night, police said. They followed the suspect vehicle. Before a marked patrol car arrived to assist, the vehicle stopped and the driver exited with a gun.
