Head Coach Matt Entz spoke to the assembled media on Monday to preview NDSU's upcoming conference opener against in-state rival North Dakota. “We continued to push them in the weight room. Coach Kramer had our dress-group lift three times. We ran on Friday just to continue to push the envelope and make sure we’re in as good as football-shape as we can be, as we move onto the next 8 weeks. I feel like being detail-oriented is one of the things we’ve stressed to our kids and staff and one of the reasons we’ve been so successful after bye-weeks.”

No. 5 NDSU Opens Valley Football Schedule Saturday at No. 10 UND

THIS WEEK: Fifth-ranked North Dakota State (3-0) visits 10th-ranked North Dakota (2-1) in the Missouri Valley Football Conference opener for both teams at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, at the Alerus Center (12,283) in Grand Forks. Both teams, along with fellow MVFC member Northern Iowa, are coming off bye weeks as the rest of the conference opened play last weekend.

UND Volleyball: Hawks Hit the Road for Trio of Summit League Matches

North Dakota snapped a 16-set winless streak last time out against Kansas City, The Summit League’s second-place team in Spring 2021. The Fighting Hawks will play St. Thomas for the first time since 1979. The only person alive when UND and the Tommies last played between the teams and the coaching staff was UST Head Coach Thanh Pham.

UND and three other North Dakota colleges see enrollment increases

Of the three North Dakota universities in the region, two are reporting increases in enrollment for the fall 2021 semester, while another is showing a decrease. While enrollment at Lake Region State College in Devils Lake declined, numbers are up at Mayville State University and UND. UND appears to have reversed a years-long trend of declining enrollment, at least in the short term. The university has seen enrollment increase in each of the last two years, but numbers are still below what the university saw during the most recent oil boom in the early 2010s, when enrollment sometimes topped 15,000.
