Disney’s Splash Mountain Will Close in January

Disney World’s Splash Mountain is taking its last plunge on Jan. 23. The attraction, which was built in 1989, is being refashioned into a new ride, called Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, which is based on the film The Princess and the Frog. There was public clamor to shut down Splash Mountain because of its connection to the movie Song of the South and its depiction of slavery. “I’ve felt, as long as I’ve been CEO, that Song of the South was, even with a disclaimer, was just not appropriate in today’s world,” Disney boss Bob Iger said in 2020.Read it at USA Today

For a limited time, residents can purchase a three-day, one-park-per-day weekday ticket for $73 per person. The standard price for this ticket offer is $83 for one ticket. The Christmas Wonderland in Tulsa is now open! The whole second floor of the Promenade Mall has been converted to a Christmas Wonderland! Our family had a wonderful time enjoying the many activities. Some of our favorites were packaging food to help against global hunger, wrapping gifts, playing in the snow, throwing snow balls at the Grinch, building toys in the elf workshop, going through the Christmas Tree Maze & petting zoo and seeing Mrs. clause and Santa of course! Disney Announces Closure Date for Splash Mountain

Disney first announced plans to close one of its signature Disneyland and Walt Disney World attractions, Splash Mountain, back in the summer of 2020. The plan all along has been to not so much replace it as update it — to maintain the basic layout and structure but to replace the characters and theming that had been from Disney’s controversial 1946 film Song of the South with ones from the popular 2009 film The Princess and the Frog.
