Court docs: South Bay man arrested with arsenal had armor-piercing bullets, detailed robbery and kidnapping plots

A Los Gatos man arrested last month with a cache of firearms and personally inscribed bullets — with messages including “Cop Killer” — should not be released from jail because of his proficiency with weapons, combined with journal writings describing elaborate robbery and kidnapping plots at specific South Bay locations, prosecutors argued in a bail motion filed this week.

'Operation Restore Hope' educates public on expunction

WELDON — People gathered inside Halifax Community College’s The Griffin Center on Thursday for the NAACP Northampton County’s annual expunction program. The event, Operation Restore Hope, began six years ago to help expand the knowledge on the expunction process. The Northampton NAACP event was in partnership with the college as well as N.C. Works to bring area judges, lawyers and clerks of court to talk about the process that would help employment. A job fair was coupled with the event, along with vendors.

State allows Donlin Gold to lease land for 315-mile pipeline

The Alaska Department of Natural Resources has granted Donlin Gold the right to lease state land in order to build a pipeline that will power its mine — for the second time. DNR granted the land-use rights on July 20 for a proposed 315-mile long pipeline that would stretch from Cook Inlet to the proposed mine site about 12 miles north of Crooked Creek on the Kuskokwim River. The pipeline will supply natural gas to the mine to power its operations.

Pure Eire Dairy has been closed in Washington. Officials from the state have linked the dairy to an E. Coli outbreak that began in May. As June 24, there were 17 confirmed cases in the outbreak. Ten patients are younger that 10. Ten of the 17 victims had so severe symptoms that they were admitted to hospital. Washington’s health department has not made public the ages of those admitted to hospitals.
