The reinvented USFL concludes Week 6 with two games on Sunday, May 22. A pair of cross-divisional matchups will wrap things up as teams jockey for playoff positioning. The newest iteration of the USFL features eight teams playing all of their games in Birmingham, Alabama, with some modified rules that are intended to increase scoring opportunities and entertainment value.

The rebooted USFL is off and running, and if you're wondering what the standings look like and how the playoffs work, you've come to the right place. Each USFL team will play 10 regular-season games -- all of them in Birmingham, Alabama -- with the top two from each division moving on to the playoffs. The North Division and South Division title games will be at 3 and 8 p.m. ET on Saturday, June 25 in Canton, Ohio. The USFL championship game will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 3 in Canton.

The cross-divisional portion of the USFL schedule continues this week for the Houston Gamblers and the New Jersey Generals. Both teams are looking to pick up a critical win to hit the ground running in the second half of the season as time is becoming short in the quest for the playoffs.

The sixth week of the 2022 USFL season will open up with two teams who still have postseason aspirations. The weekend begins with the Tampa Bay Bandits taking on the Philadelphia Stars. The Bandits (3-2) got back in the win column with last week's 27-20 victory over Michigan, while the Stars' (2-3) second-half woes continued as they fell to Birmingham 30-17. Tampa still has a chance in the very competitive South Division, while just one game separates Philly from last place in the North Division. This game could set the tone for both teams moving forward.
