Woman found dead inside East Harlem homeless shelter: NYPD

The NYPD is investigating the death of a woman who was found unconscious inside an East Harlem homeless shelter. According to police, at 10:33 p.m. on July 25 the NYPD responded to a 911 call regarding a woman in need of help at the East River Family Center, located at 325 104th Street. Upon their arrival, officers found a 26-year-old woman at the scene, unconscious and unresponsive, with no obvious signs of trauma.

Inmate Death Investigation

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is conducting a death investigation surrounding the death of an inmate housed at the Falkenburg Road Jail. On July 26, 2021, inmate Elvis Upshaw, 62, was unresponsive after suffering a medical episode. He was transported to Brandon Regional Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. Upshaw's next of kin has been notified.

Columbia Heights man identified as victim in fatal Minneapolis shooting

A Columbia Heights man has been identified as the victim of a fatal shooting that happened Saturday, July 17, in Minneapolis. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner identified the victim July 18 as Mohamed Hussein Hassan, 20, who died at 3:20 a.m. of a gunshot wound to the torso July 17 at the Hennepin County Medical Center emergency room in Minneapolis. The Medical Examiner ruled Hassan’s death a homicide.

Carroll County To Gain Nine New Death Investigators

Currently, there are only four licensed death investigators in Carroll County, and Medical Examiner, Dr. Michael Slattery, has requested the Board of Supervisors approve nine new trainees as they are looking at another retirement in the next year or so. Supervisor, Scott Johnson, explains that if they approve the list of nine, the minutes of that approval will go to the state and they will then be licensed and can be utilized on calls.
