ACC Basketball: Projecting each team’s key player production for 2021-22

ACC Basketball fielded seven teams in the 2020-21 NCAA Division I Tournament and they did so without the Louisville Cardinals and the Duke Blue Devils being among them. The exclusion of those traditionally successful teams would speak to the strength of the conference, if not for the fact that just Florida State and Syracuse managed to advance past the first round.

Demon Deacons Fall to No. 2 Cardinals in Four Sets

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Wake Forest volleyball team snapped the Louisville Cardinals 27-set win streak on Sunday afternoon in a four-set battle in Varsity Arena. The Deacs were led offensively by Kamryn Malloy, Ashley Slater and Andrea Fuentes. Malloy tallied a match-high 18 kills and Slater notched 10 while Fuentes orchestrated the offensive with 31 assists. Kalani Whillock registered a match-high 12 digs. Annabelle Daly and Fuentes were right behind her with eight and Malloy chipped in six. Chloe Wilson finished with a match-high five blocks.

Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson had no idea what was in store when Public Relations Vice President Patrick Gleason brought him into a room filled with Cardinal red and numerous No. 8 jerseys hanging in a locker off to the side. Jackson sat down in front of the computer, with the Louisville Cardinal logo stamped over the computer logo, and was all set to meet with the media. But instead, Jackson was greeted with a video announcing that his No. 8 jersey will be retired by the Louisville Cardinals.

Lamar Jackson will join Johnny Unitas in an exclusive club next month. The University of Louisville will retire Jackson’s No. 8 in a ceremony on Nov. 13, the school announced Saturday.
