Merrillville ranked second in Class 6A: Merrillville remained No. 2 in the Associated Press Class 6A rankings released on Tuesday. The Pirates (4-0) received the only first-place vote that did not go to No. 1 Center Grove. Chesterton (4-0) moved into the 6A rankings in a 10th-place tie with Ben Davis. Harvard’s Jimmy Vesey signs tryout deal with Devils

North Reading’s Jimmy Vesey, who played at Harvard and won the Hobey Baker Award in 2016, signed a tryout contract with the New Jersey Devils Tuesday. Vesey, 28, played with Toronto and Vancouver last season, and has 64 goals and 56 assists in 354 career regular-season games since his debut with the Rangers in the 2016-17 season. He also played with Buffalo. He was selected by Nashville in the third round (66th overall) of the 2012 NHL Draft.
