MACHIAS, N.Y.- During the June 21, 2021 town board meeting, the following was discussed according to draft minutes provided by the town clerk:. • Highway Superintendent Tim Byroads told the board that the highway department had been working on road repair, including patching up some spots that were damaged during a storm. Work had to be stopped on Canada Hill Road in order to repair Riceville Road, Krepps Road, Steffenhagen Hill Road, and Marble Road, due to damage from the intense rain deposited by the storm. According to the minutes, the edges of the blacktop on those roads had washed away quite deeply, but it has since been fixed. Machias also took some of their equipment over to the towns of Ashford, East Otto and Lyndon, to help their highway departments with some of the storm damage they experienced as well.
