Saturday's top AFL prospect performers

Here's a look at Saturday’s top performers in the Arizona Fall League from each team's Top 30 Prospects list. Royals: Asa Lacy, LHP (MLB No. 66), Surprise Sagueros. Lacy tossed two no-hit innings as the Saguaros’ starter, fanning five and walking one while throwing 21 of his 30 pitches for strikes. Surprise’s relievers carried the no-hitter into the seventh inning before being broken up by a Bryson Stott single. Lacy, the fourth overall pick in the 2020 Draft, struggled in his debut season with a 5.19 ERA in 52 innings, but flashed his dominance with 79 strikeouts and a 33.3% strikeout rate. The 22-year-old lowered his AFL ERA to 3.86 and has fanned 10 batters over 4 2/3 innings. More »

Yepez, Nootbaar continue to rake in desert

It was the fourth Fall League dinger for the 24-year-old. Yepez, No. 27 Cardinals prospect, crushed a solo shot to left in the seventh and cleared the bases with a three-run double to center in the fourth.

MLB Pipeline’s No. 5 overall prospect launched a three-run blast to left in the opening frame, crushed a solo shot to the same spot in the third and added a hard-hit single to right in the sixth. Here's a look at Thursday's top performers in the Arizona Fall League from each team's Top 30 Prospects list. Mets: Brett Baty, 3B/OF (MLB No. 45), Salt River Rafters. Although Salt River dropped its game, 1-0, to Surprise, Baty was the highlight of the day. After going a perfect 3-for-3 with a walk on Opening Day, the Mets’ No. 2 prospect singled, walked and doubled in his first three plate appearances on Thursday to give him the distinction of reaching base in his first eight Arizona Fall League plate appearances. He grounded out and flied out to finish his night, but Baty still boasts a .714 batting average through two games.
