The Los Angeles Lakers have difficult decisions to make ahead of the February trade deadline in a bid to revive their title hopes. Significant roster adjustments seemed inevitable after L.A. started the season with a 10-2 record. But the Lakers seem to have turned things around, and so they now might want to avoid making drastic changes to the team they built for the 2022-23 season.

Kentucky-based Paxton Media Group buys six North Carolina newspapers from Gannett

Amidst another recent round of layoffs, Gannett has sold six of its North Carolina newspapers to a company based in Kentucky. The sale to the Paxton Media Group — a 125-year-old family-owned media company stationed in Paducah, Kentucky — was announced with little fanfare in a press release just before Thanksgiving on Nov. 22. The six newspapers changing owners from Gannett to Paxton are the Burlington Times-News, the Asheboro Courier-Tribune, the Kinston Free Press, the New Bern Sun Journal, and The Daily News of Jacksonville.

Cowlitz County PUD investigates after substations vandalized, following other regional, national substation attacks

Two substations in the Woodland area are under investigation after being vandalised last month, according to Cowlitz County Public Utility District spokesperson Alice Dietz. The Seattle Times reports the Cowlitz County electricity substations are two of six that were attacked around the same time in the region, including equipment with Puget Sound Energy, Portland General Electric and the Bonneville Power Administration.
