Yankees Prospects: Austin Wells taking next step in Arizona Fall League

The New York Yankees thought they’d figured out the whole “catcher of the future” thing back in 2016, when Gary Sánchez officially ascended, ripping 20 homers in 53 games to earn a partial-season second-place Rookie of the Year finish. Whew. That was a tough one. Catchers are famously tough to...

The Yankees’ five best starts of 2021

5 - Tie, Jameson Taillon, 10/3/2021 vs. Tampa Bay, and Nestor Cortes Jr., 9/15/2021 at Baltimore. Right off the bat, we’re breaking the rules, because we have a tie for fifth place. Neither start ranks particularly high on metrics like Gamescore, but both represent the apex of each pitcher’s season. It’s fair to be a little let down by Taillon’s 2021, between inconsistency and injury, but on the final day of the season, when the Yankees absolutely had to win, he delivered.

Boston Red Sox: 3 reasons the bottom may have dropped out on Sox

The Boston Red Sox, after surging ahead 2-1 in the ALCS against the Houston Astros, have seen the bottom drop out on them since. It was a thrill-a-minute ride with the 2021 Boston Red Sox until the past two games when the bubble seemed to burst on their playoff run and they crashed back down to earth.

New York Yankees Season Recap

As Gleyber Torres flies out to Boston Red Sox right fielder Hunter Renfroe, the Yankees Postseason/Season fades away. The Yankees had an extremely interesting season. From second place in the American League East to fourth place, the Yankees always found a way to hang in there. In this year’s season,...

Former Cubs shine in MLB playoffs

Another MLB postseason is underway, and while the Chicago Cubs may not be playing in October, some familiar faces are suiting up for playoff teams looking to win the World Series. The Cubs sent shockwaves around the MLB on July 30, when they traded core superstars like first baseman Anthony...

The decline of DJ LeMahieu [2021 Season Review]

No one expected DJ LeMahieu to repeat his 2020 performance in 2021. At the same time, no one expected LeMahieu to go from a 177 wRC+ in 2020 to a 100 wRC+ this season. Regression was coming to some extent, particularly after a shortened 60-game season, but LeMahieu didn’t resemble anything of his former self for the Yankees this year. His downturn was one of the many reasons that the Bronx Bombers didn’t live up to their moniker all season long.

MLB World Reacts To Tuesday’s Aaron Boone News

After two weeks of speculation, the New York Yankees have finally made a decision on manager Aaron Boone. On Tuesday, the Yankees announced that Boone has been signed to a three-year contract through the 2024 season. His deal includes a club option for 2025. Boone owns an impressive 328-218 record...

What went wrong with the Yankees Offense?

We expected the Bronx Bombers to continue being just that, an offensive juggernaut that ranks solidly among the top five offenses in the regular season. I mean, they’ve been constantly doing this ever since the Baby Bombers got here. How could we consider any other outcome?. Well, another outcome did...

Yankees GM Brian Cashman: 'Shortstop is an area of need'

The New York Yankees confirmed widely reported news Tuesday that Aaron Boone will remain the club's manager through at least the early days of the 2022 MLB season, but general manager Brian Cashman had more to say while speaking with reporters. Per ESPN and the Associated Press, Cashman announced the...

The Arc of History by Jamie Kirkpatrick

It is a perfect October afternoon: high, blue sky, warm, but with a hint of chill to come. I’m 12 years old, unexpectedly sprung from Mrs. Swango’s sixth grade classroom and by unreasonable good fortune, I’m sitting in the front row, next to the first base dugout in Forbes Field, home of the Pittsburgh Pirates. It’s the seventh game of the 1960 World Series.

David Ortiz Trolls Alex Rodriguez During Kyle Schwarber Interview On FOX

The Red Sox and Yankees both made moves for a dynamic left-handed bat leading up to this year’s Major League Baseball trade deadline. New York actually doubled up, trading for both Anthony Rizzo and Joey Gallo. But perhaps the Bronx Bombers should have made a stronger push for Kyle Schwarber, who’s been nothing short of sensational since joining Boston in late July.

Yankees and Aaron Boone Agree on 3-Year Extension; Fans Sound Off

Despite falling short in the playoffs for the fourth straight season, and despite pleas from Yankees’ fans for a new direction, the Bronx Bombers are indeed bringing back Aaron Boone as manager for the 2022 season and beyond. The Yankees and Boone agreed to a three-year deal that will take...
