Ohio State should consider playing 2 QBs the next few weeks

Obviously, something isn’t quite clicking at Ohio State. And I’m not just talking about the defense, which let up 428 passing yards to Tulsa on Saturday. The Buckeyes haven’t exactly lit it up offensively yet, despite a plethora of talent at every position. The toughest part has been finding a rhythm early in games. The No. 10 Buckeyes (2-1) had 13 points in the first half against Tulsa, and that was an improvement on the first 2 games, when they combined for 17.

Lots of Quez Watkins in this week's Roob's Eagles Stats

Understandably, a 17-11 loss doesn’t create the fun statistical opportunities that a 32-6 win does. But when you have a 91-yard pass play, a quarterback who’s running at a near-record pace and a defense that’s only allowed 23 points, the stats are there if you really want them!. Quez Watkins,...

Week 2’s Top NFL Storylines: Justin Fields, Zach Wilson and the Worst Team in the NFL

With the NFC North clash between the Packers and Lions on Monday Night Football in the rearview, the second week of the NFL season is in the books. While we can’t get to everything — like the possibility of Tom Brady playing until the age of 50 — here are four of the top storylines to emerge from Week 1 of the season, and whether we’re buying or selling on ’em.

Mile High Morning: After hot two-week start, Teddy Bridgewater receives praise from NFL analysts, including a Hall of Famer

As the Broncos have jumped out to a 2-0 start to their season, perhaps no one has been more impressive to viewers than quarterback Teddy Bridgewater. Pro Football Hall of Famer and former Vikings receiver Cris Carter gave Bridgewater a figurative game ball during a segment of NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football,” taking particular pride in Bridgewater's resilience after a career-threatening injury in 2016.

Tigers storm past Southern Nazarene for Homecoming win

The East Central University football team scored so many points Saturday it apparently fried the NCAA Genius Stat Program SID Teri LaJeunessee uses to input every play during the course of the contest. At least that’s my story, and I’m sticking to it. But while that program actually went on...

Port Allen blanks Livonia 31-0 for first win

Both Livonia and Port Allen decided fourth down was as good a down as any other to run a play instead of punting. But Port Allen get the better of the gamble to take a 31-0 non-district win over Livonia on Friday. The Pelicans (1-2 1-1 2-1) gambled on six...

Iowa Football Position Grades: Kent State

After playing the cupcake part of their schedule (Iowa State), the Hawkeyes faced a formidable opponent in Kent State. Iowa prevailed 30-7. Jack Campbell forced a fumble at the goal line; if it weren’t for this, the game would have looked/felt much closer than the final score. Of course Iowa’s defense scored. I can’t remember the last time a Hawkeye defense has scored 3 games in a row. The Hawks will try to make it 4 against Colorado State.

Big Central football rankings, Week 3: New occupancy at top after major upset

Two Friday night surprises among the Big Central’s top 10 teams suddenly has the conference looking a little more as it did at the end of the 2020 season. Ninth-ranked Bridgewater-Raritan was shut out by No. 11 Ridge, 24-0, a result which has these two changing positions. But no doubt the real shock wave was felt after 0-2 Sayreville - unranked in the Top 15 - rallied in the second half behind sophomore running back Zaimer Wright (four TD runs) to defeat No. 1 North Brunswick, 35-22.

El Paso’s Aaron Jones Flashes 9-1-5/EP Strong in Career Day Monday Night Football Game

The Green Bay Packers got their first dub Monday night (9/20), and El Paso's Aaron Jones got his first TD. And his second. And third, and fourth. The Detroit Lions game was Jones’ first home game since his father Alvin Jones Sr. passed away in April from COVID-19. Sadly, after the second trip to the end zone, Jones lost the chain he wears containing his father’s ashes. More on that in a bit.

Iowa in the NFL: Highlights from week two

Former Iowa Hawkeyes were all over the NFL this weekend. Here are the highlights from week two. Iowa tight ends have had a lot of success in the NFL over the last few years. TJ Hockenson and Noah Fant are next up. In Sunday's 23-13 win over Jacksonville, Fant had...

Texas QB Casey Thompson called Bijan Robinson's 62-yard TD run vs. Rice

Junior quarterback Casey Thompson added his first career start at Texas last Saturday when he helped lead the Longhorns to a 58-0 shutout against Rice. Thompson got the offense rolling early and often against the Owls’ defense and led the Longhorns to the end zone on seven of eight series, all of which ended with touchdowns. Thompson finished the game completing 15 of 18 passing attempts for 167 yards and two touchdowns, while the running backs handled their own on the ground racking up 427 rushing yards and six touchdowns with four different backs scoring TDs in the final non-conference game of the regular season.
