Speed Racer’s Mach 5: He’s A Demon On Wheels

Okay, if you are going to make up a magnificently fictional hero car, you might was well go over the top in pretty much every respect. It was the brainchild of a cartoonist in Japan: it started as a comic book. Then, circa 1967, they decided to do a cartoon series, first in Japan, and then later brought stateside courtesy of an outfit called Trans-Lux. The over-the-topness carried very well from comic to cartoon. And as is so often the case in pop culture, the car not only became a character, it overshadowed the eponymous protagonist.

Link Tank: You Should Give Speed Racer Another Chance

In lieu of the Matrix Resurrections trailer, you should revisit the Wachowskis’s absolutely bonkers (but fun) Speed Racer movie. “Flesh-and-blood actors have many physical limitations, which means that adapting cartoons for the big screen in a live-action format runs the risk of diminishing their zaniness and elasticity. John Goodman’s career offers two different examples of how a cartoon adaptation can succeed or fail.”

Keanu Reeves And Carrie-Anne Moss Reunite In First ‘Matrix: Resurrections’ Trailer

I’ve long argued that a symbol of the film industry (and now, frankly streaming industry as well) was that the environment was such that studios would rather reboot or revamp The Matrix than make “the next Matrix.” To be fair, much of that can be blamed on audiences, which have flocked to a depressing degree to the familiar, the comforting and the once-was-popular. As good as this new teaser for Lana Wachowski’s The Matrix: Resurrections looks, and it looks flat-out spectacular, there is still something a little depressing in its skewed “legacy sequel but not” structure.

Everything We Know About The Matrix Resurrections

The year was 1999. The summer movie season was about to kick off with one of the most anticipated films of all time. This would be the year that would see the return of the greatest franchise in cinema history, as George Lucas would once again journey to a galaxy far, far away with Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace. There was no question that this would be the movie event of the —

Plugging Back In: First Trailer for 'The Matrix Resurrections' is Here

"Time to fly…" Warner Bros has finally unveiled the first teaser trailer for The Matrix 4, now officially known as Matrix Resurrections. And it is PACKED with tons of new footage. As Neo once said before, "whoa." From the looks of it, Thomas Anderson has returned to The Matrix and has been taking blue pills, until he meets another new Morpheus (maybe?) and is brought back to free Trinity once again. Or at least something like that. There's so much going on in here and there's no other official synopsis yet other than stating that it's a continuation of the iconic sci-fi series. The returning cast includes Keanu Reeves as Neo, Carrie-Anne Moss as Trinity, Jada Pinkett Smith as Niobe, Lambert Wilson as The Merovingian, and Daniel Bernhardt as Agent Johnson. Along with newcomers Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jessica Henwick, Jonathan Groff, Neil Patrick Harris, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Christina Ricci, Toby Onwumere, Max Riemelt, and Eréndira Ibarra. I am ALL IN. Even more exciting than I was hoping.

Megaton #3, First Appearance Of "Savage" Dragon, At Auction

Like many of Erik Larsen's characters, the Savage Dragon was created by Larsen while he was a child in school and Larsen drew the Dragon in homemade comic books. The original Dragon, inspired by elements from Captain Marvel, Batman, Speed Racer and Hulk, differs from the modern incarnation. A redesigned Savage Dragon was featured in 1992 in two issues of Graphic Fantasy, a self-published title with a small print run, published by Larsen and two friends, the Dragon as a widower and a retired member of a government-sponsored superhero team. Dragon then made an appearance in the third issue of Gary Carlson's Megaton anthology in its Vanguard strip, which Larsen had been drawing, now with a living wife. Both the Graphic Fantasy and Megaton issues containing the Dragon have since been reprinted in high-quality editions from Image Comics, who published the million-selling mini-series and ongoing series which has run written and drawn by Larsen since 1992 as a green amnesiac, who joined the Chicago police department after being discovered in a burning field. A copy of Megaton #3, the first non-self published appearance of Savage Dragon, and the first time he used the name "Savage Dragon" as opposed to Paul Dragon, is up for auction from Heritage Auctions today, in a CGC 9.0 grading. 'Savage' was added to the character, after a cease and desist order from Dragon Magazine. Which makes this the first appearance of "Savage Dragon" even though the character had appeared a number of times before – but years before his more famous Image Comics' debut.

WB Relaunches Mysterious ‘What is The Matrix’ Site for ‘The Matrix 4’

WB Relaunches Mysterious ‘What is The Matrix’ Site for ‘The Matrix 4’. It has begun. It’s finally time to kick off the marketing for The Matrix 4, officially known as The Matrix Resurrections. The first glimpse of footage from the sequel was revealed a few weeks ago at the industry event CinemaCon in Las Vegas, a teaser trailer showing what seemed to be lovers Neo & Trinity meeting but having no memory of anything in their past lives. At the moment, Warner Bros still has Lana Wachowski’s The Matrix 4 scheduled to debut in theaters December 22nd, 2021 just before the end of this year. There are rumors it could be delayed (again), but nothing has been confirmed or announced yet. Many fans have been wondering why there is no marketing yet – absolutely nothing – not even an announcement about the title. But now it looks like they’re finally firing up the marketing machine. Game creator / movie geek Hideo Kojima tweeted about a brand new website for The Matrix called “What is The Matrix?” And here we go…

A Closer Look at Pininfarina’s 1900 HP Battista EV Hypercar

Cars have always been a sign of the times and an indicator of things to come. Perhaps as early as the first Fords on the road, we have looked to the automobile industry for inspiration and even hope for the future. First, it was simply a faster way to travel multiple passengers without a train track. By the 1950s, we dreamed of flying cars. Now that we’re almost a quarter of the way into the twenty-first century, people dream of pollution-free electric cars that can do things we’ve only seen in the special effects of movies like Speed Racer. A closer look at Pininfarina’s 1900HP Battista EV Hypercar is all it takes to see that the dream is within reach.
