Alaska earthquake: Magnitude 8.2 quake reported off coast, sparks tsunami warning

PERRYVILLE, Alaska — A magnitude 8.2 earthquake struck off the Alaska coast late Wednesday, the U.S. Geological Survey is reporting. According to the agency, the quake, which occurred about 10:15 p.m. Alaska time Wednesday, was centered about 57 miles east-southeast of Perryville at a depth of 29 miles. Two other earthquakes with preliminary magnitudes of 6.2 and 5.6 occurred in the same area within the next half-hour, the agency reported.
