Khalid Shares New Single ‘Present’; Reveals Features from Ari Lennox, JID, Majid Jordan, 6LACK on New EP

Khalid has been away for a while from releasing music but he’s right back today with the brand new single ‘Present’. The smooth and breezy track is taken from his forthcoming EP Scenic Drive which is coming soon and will serve as an intro to his album which will follow. “You know what, before I give people this album that is almost like a new reintroduction to who I am as a creative, I’m like, I want to go back to my basics and I want to make an R&B tape, EP, undecided on what it is because it birthed ‘Present’. There’s two projects. They’re related. They’re related but it’s like the more mature cousin. And then the album is like its own thing, it’s like this new born baby,” he told Zane Lowe on Apple Music.

Khalid Shares "Present" & Reveals "Scenic Drive EP" Features Including JID, Ari Lennox, Smino

Back with those hypnotizing harmonies and buttery vocals is Khalid who is officially rolling out his next project with the arrival of "Present." Fans helped make the singer's 2019 release Free Spirit a chart-topping album, and now, he prepares for Scenic Drive. The EP will reportedly act as the companion to 2018's Suncity, so it will be interesting to hear how Khalid and his team intertwine the essences of each project.

Okeechobee Reopens The Portal with Tame Impala, Porter Robinson, Flying Lotus and More for Its Fifth Year

Festival season doesn’t truly begin each year until the first weekend of March, and for my money there’s no better spring opener than the four-day Portal of Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival in Florida. The 2020 event achieved legendary status amongst festivalgoers for a lot of reasons, most notably being that it took place the final weekend before COVID-19 shut down the music industry and initiated lockdowns. Okee had already cemented itself as one of the best weekends of my life before it concluded, and experiencing acts ranging from Tipper to Mumford & Sons provided me enough solace and satisfaction to last throughout the lengthy void of live music that followed.

Hip Hop Awards 2021 Recap: 3 Sleeper Performances You Should See

On October 5, the 2021 BET Hip Hop Awards took place, proving, yet again, why called the “biggest night in hip hop,” with the 85 South (DC Young Fly, Karlous Miller, and Chico Bean) serving as hosts for the second year, speech appearances from Trina and Remy Ma and much more, it was an event that you can’t help but revisit.

THIB – [Isaiah Rashad]

Although Top Dawg Entertainment might have been put on the map thanks to superstars like Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q, SZA, and numerous other names on their roster, there isn’t a single weak link on their lineup, making any release they put out as magnificent as it gets. One artist who I think doesn’t get nearly enough credit is Isaiah Rashad, but he is obviously one of the most captivating emcees in the entire industry, and this is apparent no matter what song you listen to or what video you watch.

2021 BET Hip Hop Awards: Get To Know The International Cypher Artists

The 2021 BET Hip Hop Awards was one for the books. The 85 South (DC Young Fly, Karlous Miller, and Chico Bean) hosted for the second year, Young Thug, Gunna, Bia, Lil Jon, Baby Keem and Isaiah Rashad rocked the house as performers and winners included the likes of Tyler, the Creator, who took home three awards, Lil Baby, who won multiple, and Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion, who took home three awards for “WAP,” to name a few.

Alina Baraz on Folding Napkins and Marrying Her Fans

Since her debut in 2015, Alina Baraz has carved out a very specific lane for herself. On Spotify, you’ll find her music in playlists titled “All The Feels,” “Autumn Leaves,” and “Anxiety Relief.” Her music speaks for itself— minimal and airy production is layered with soft, moody vocals and lyrics about love, passion, and inevitable heartbreak. Last year, Baraz released her debut album, It Was Divine, which featured collaborations with heavy-hitters like Nas, Khalid, Smino, and 6LACK. This time around, in a new four-track EP titled Sunbeam, she’s paring down her sound to something more solitary and personal. “This EP is a bookmark for me,” she says. “It’s full of little pieces of nostalgia and moments of stillness that I can always come back to. It serves as a self-reminder.” To mark her recent release, Baraz answered a few questions about napkin folding, lucid dreaming, and marrying fans, from the writings of Andy Warhol.

Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival to be Headlined by Rezz, GRiZ, Tame Impala, Megan Thee Stallion, and More

Though still pretty new in the festival world, Okeechobee Music x Arts Festival by Insomniac and Soundslinger quickly made a name for itself. Taking place in Florida at Sunshine Grove in Okeechobee, this festival offers an incredible and immersive creative experience. The fifth year of Okeechobee, which also offers camping, starts on March 3rd, 2022 and ends on March 6th.

GRIP, D Smoke, Smino & Tierra Whack Snap On BET Cypher

The 2021 BET Hip-Hop Awards transpired last night, bringing out several of the game's biggest names in the process. And while there were many notable performances and wins throughout, one of the most memorable moments arose when four top-tier lyricists stepped up to hold it down for one of the many cyphers.

2021 BET Hip Hop Awards complete list of winners

WASHINGTON (SBG) — The 2021 BET Hip Hop Awards recognized some of the industry's biggest stars Tuesday night and honored their accomplishments over the past year. The show was prerecorded at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center in Atlanta. Hosted by Karlous Miller, DC Young Fly, and Chico Bean (collectively known as the 85 South Show), the show was filled with performances, rap cyphers, and hilarious moments.

2021 Hip-Hop Awards Cypher Freestyles Ranked From Best To Worst

The 2021 Hip-Hop Awards Cypher freestyles didn’t necessarily live up to the hype of past award shows, but it was still nice to see some of the young talent out there, doing their thing. There was a “Lyricism Cypher”, featuring Tierra Whack, Smino and D Smoke, a “Digital Cypher” comprised of Kidd Kenn, Lakeyah, Toosii and Symba and a “Hot Now Cypher” with Erica Banks, Fivio Foreign, Sleepy Hallow and Rico Nasty. Women were definitely represented, and at least one woman was featured in every cypher, which was great to see. The content for the most part wasn’t refreshing, but its 2021 and the raps match the songs we’re getting, so it makes sense.
