OBITUARIES

C.J. passed away on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at Baton Rouge General Hospital after a month and half long battle with Covid, at the age of 57. He was a native of Port Allen and lifelong resident of West Baton Rouge, currently residing in Erwinville. C.J. was a self-employed carpenter and the owner and operator of C.J’s Wood Creations. C.J. was a motorcycle enthusiast and loved to travel on his bike. He was an active Member of Compound Fellowship. C.J. was a Road Captain for Southern Cruiser Riding Club Chapter 040-False River. C.J. conquered addiction and has been sober since May 13, 2007. He was close friends with Bill W. Per C.J.’s wishes he was cremated. A memorial service was at Wilbert Funeral Home in Port Allen on Saturday, October 16th, from 4 to 8 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., conducted by Rev. Ryan Hallford. C.J. is survived by his two sons, Chris J. Thibodeaux and Travis W. Thibodeaux; two grandchildren, Chris J. Thibodeaux Jr. and Makayla P. Thibodeaux. C.J. was preceded in death by his parents, Carol Jerome Thibodeaux Sr. and Annabelle Cavaliere Thibodeaux; two sisters, Dianne David Franklin and Betty Hebert; and brother, Ronald Thibodeaux. Rev. James Vernon McCalip died Oct. 8, 2021 in Tecumseh, OK. James was born to Homer and Ollie (Ward) McCalip Sept. 16, 1928 in Oklahoma City, OK. He was preceded in death by his beloved queen, Faye Graham McCalip; his daughter, Rená Jett; granddaughter, Tammy Baker; grandson, Kerry Carter; son-in-law Paul Jett, the grandchildren who were miscarried before birth; his parents; three brothers, Leroy, Floyd and Kenny McCalip; four sisters, Leota Powers, Lovie Drain, Jeraldine Parnell and Ruby Mize.

Robbie Atha Thomas, age 88 of Loganville, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Piedmont Rockdale Medical Center. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Grover Lee Thomas; son, Kendall Joe Thomas; grandson, Kelby Lee Thomas, great grandson, Kane Thomas Mecomber; and great granddaughter, Caitlin Nicole Blackwell. She is survived by her children, Kenneth Lee Thomas (Anne), Brenda Sue Thomas Little, Grover Keith Thomas (Debbie); daughter-in-law, Patti Thomas; brothers, Howard and Herbert Atha; 9 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

OBITUARIES

Chadwick E. ‘Mansey’ Daigle Jr. passed away Friday, September 17, 2021, at Covenant Health Hobbs Hospital in Hobbs, New Mexico at the age of 54. He was a maintenance supervisor at Woodsprings Suites of Hobbs; resident of Hobbs, New Mexico and a native of Erwinville, LA. Visiting at Sharon Baptist Church, 9433 Section Rd Port Allen, LA 70767 on Monday, September 27, 2021 from 10am until religious services at 12pm, conducted by Terry Swanson. Interment at the church cemetery. Mansey is survived by his brother, Kenny LeJeune; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Preceded in death by his father, Chadwick Daigle, Sr.; and parents, Janice Kent LeJeune and John LeJeune. Pallbearers will be Leroy Dearman, Bryan and Jerry Daigle, David and Kenny Kent and Johnny Francois, III. Mansey loved to fish. Charlie Frazier Carter

Charlie Frazier Carter, 80, of Reidsville, North Carolina, passed away Saturday October 2, 2021 at his home. Charlie was born in Rockingham County on December 22, 1940, the son of the late James Hubert Carter and Carrie Brame Carter, of Reidsville. He was a retired tobacco farmer. Charlie loved farming, playing golf and playing cards. Charlie was of Baptist faith and attended both Antioch Baptist Church and Sharon Baptist Church throughout his life. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife Lucy Thomas Carter; son Chad Thomas Carter; brothers John Carter, James Carter and Jerry Wayne Carter; Sisters Louise Smith and Carrie Snyder. Charlie is survived by sisters Edna Stone and Nona Brooks along with many nieces, nephews, extended family and many special friends.
