'MultiVersus' First Impressions: The WB Fighter Has Lots of Style, Pizzazz, and References

There's a lot of vision and ambition that goes into a game like MultiVersus. The upcoming platform fighter features a wide assortment of WB characters duking it out in a Super Smash Bros.-style game. These characters are fully voiced, with celebrities like Maisie Williams and Matthew Lillard reprising their live-action roles as Arya Stark and Shaggy, respectively. We're all too intrigued to see how this game could live up to the hype. Luckily, we got a little preview.

Game of Thrones Star Maisie Williams Talks About Involvement With MultiVersus

Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams talked about her experience working on the new Warner Bros. fighting game, MultiVersus. The game sees an all-out brawl with characters from a number of WB's iconic franchises, from Batman and Shaggy to Iron Giant and Bugs Bunny. It's coming off the back of Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, which has a lot of similar ideas, but was panned for not featuring voice acting for some of its most defining characters. MultiVersus has been seemingly paying attention to games like All-Star Brawl as it will feature voice acting for these characters, with many of the original actors reprising their roles. Kevin Conroy will play Batman, Matthew Lillard will play Shaggry, and Maisie Williams will play Arya.

MultiVersus has no right to be as fun as it is

My expectations were pretty darn low going into Warner Bros. crossover fighter MultiVersus. The Super Smash Bros. series has been the undisputed champion of the platform fighter subgenre of fighting game, and few titles could ever reach its level of polish or its fun factor. Nonetheless, more companies have noticed the crossover potential of games like Smash and have started to make their own for their own brands, to mixed results.

With the launch of Warner Bros. Games’ MultiVersus Closed Alpha, there’s now the opportunity for you to pit Superman versus Garnet or Shaggy versus Bugs Bunny. The initial responses to this game come from nearly all sides of the gaming space—because the Closed Alpha is available on multiple platforms and features cross-play. MultiVersus is available on Playstations 4 and 5, Xbox Seris X|S and One, and PC via Steam. Also, the game will have cross-progression, meaning if you unlock a particular character on one platform, you won’t lose stats and such when moving to another.

Teyana Taylor Wins The Masked Singer Season 7

Teyana Taylor has now joined Hillary Clinton and John McCain on the list of people who have defeated Rudolph Giuliani. Last night, Fox’s dystopian, hallucinatory singing-celebrities show The Masked Singer wrapped up its seventh season. The big news from this season was that Giuliani, the loathsome face of a right-wing coup attempt, once again got a platform where he got to attempt to present himself as a human being — something that caused multiple judges to leave the stage in disgust. That season is now over, and the winner was — get this — a real singer.
