QB Matt Ryan rooting for close friend Poles

New Bears general manager Ryan Poles and long-time Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan developed a strong bond when they were Boston College teammates from 2003-07. On the field, Poles was a two-year starting left guard who provided protection for Ryan, who compiled a 25-7 record as a starter and was named the ACC Player of the Year as a senior. Off the field, the two played pickup basketball together during the offseason and had some fierce Madden NFL video game battles in their dorm.

Why Ryan Poles is not another Ryan Pace for the Chicago Bears

Many fans might be concerned about the hiring of Ryan Poles. The one thing I keep hearing people say is that Poles is just another Ryan Pace and this team cannot go down that road once again. It is important for us to look at this objectively though. Obviously, the Chicago Bears did not hire Ryan Poles because his initials are the same as Ryan Pace and the team was looking to go as cheap as possible in this transition. It appears to me that the team did their due diligence and determined Poles was the best candidate.

Ryan Poles’ timing might be just right

The Bears have been through these hiring processes so many times in recent years that even the new general managers are starting to blend together. Right now, Ryan Poles is just another guy named Ryan from a Super Bowl-winning franchise who’s too young to have written a book we can pore through for clues about what makes him tick. To loyal Bears fans, Poles is the Bears’ new general manager. To Bears fans weary of trusting the process, he’s just the next one.

The chauffeur — George McCaskey — was sent to O’Hare for ‘Canandaigua.’ A day later, the Chicago Bears GM search ended with the hiring of Ryan Poles.

The video surfaced a little before 11 p.m. Monday. Undercover, of course. And shared on social media by Eric Bohn, whose Twitter bio identifies him as “your trusted resource for Chicago’s Northside and the North Shore residential real estate market.” In this case, he was moonlighting as an impromptu P.I. — with his cellphone ready. This, after all, is what we do in 2022. See, share, then open ...

Another Round of Coaching Interviews Needed

The Bears hired Ryan Poles as general manager on Tuesday and it doesn't mean they've stepped beyond the problem. In fact, they're right on course for this disaster unless they let the 36-year-old new GM pick or at least have a big voice in choosing the new head coach. Already...
