Epic Games offers $10 vouchers for redeeming 'Rocket League'

You can use it on anything worth more than $15 in the Epic Games Store. Rocket League has officially gone free-to-play on all platforms including PS4, Xbox One and Switch. Epic Games is keen that you play the rocket-powered-car-football-chaos on PC and Mac, though — and preferably by downloading the game through its own digital store. To make that option just a little bit sweeter, the company is offering a free $10 voucher that you can spend on anything that’s worth more than $14.99. Well, almost anything. You can’t put it toward a pre-order or special in-game currency, such as Fortnite’s V-bucks. Still, there’s plenty of software to choose from in the Epic Games Store (I just grabbed Supergiant’s well-received Hades.)

Epic is offering $10 coupons to Rocket League players that use the Epic Games Store

Epic Games has promised a $10 Epic Games Store credit to players that redeem a copy of the now free-to-play Rocket League via its storefront for the next month. It’s a notable promotion that all at once gives new players a reason to give Rocket League’s free-to-play relaunch a go, but also could aim to entice current Steam-bound owners of Rocket League to swap over to the Epic Games Store instead.

Rocket League's servers died after it went free-to-play yesterday

Rocket League went free-to-play yesterday, which, naturally, caused loads of new players to hop into those funky little football cars for a few matches. The game’s new competitive season began, too, bringing in a load of returning players as well. Unfortunately, Rocket League’s servers did not like this. Not long after the game updated, the servers went down and players struggled to connect to its online features.

After Rocket League went free-to-play, its servers crashed

Earlier today Rocket League became available on the Epic Games Store for free after being removed from sale on Steam (though existing players keep their copies, of course). The influx of new players, combined with a bunch of returning players thanks to the simultaneous start of Rocket League's latest competitive season, hit servers hard. As the official Rocket League Twitter account announced, "Tournaments, Challenges, and other Rocket League features are impacted by this degradation. Updates to follow when online services are restored."
