Sci-fi fan-favorite Alan Tudyk is here to save humankind with pizza. Tudyk is returning to his role as Harry Vanderspiegel, the alien posing as a local doctor, in the second season of "Resident Alien," premiering tonight (Jan. 26) on Syfy. In the new season, fans will finally get to see what happens with Harry, his newfound human friends (including co-star Sara Tomko who plays Astra Twelvetrees) in Patience, Colorado and his pressing mission to wipe out humanity.

Harry Vanderspeigle may be back in Patience, Colo., but he doesn’t have to be happy about it. In the Season 2 premiere of Resident Alien, Harry’s ship crash-lands back on Earth, and when he comes to, he’s in the hospital suffering one hilarious identity crisis. (He even tells a nurse he’s an alien sent here to kill everyone, but she chalks it all up to head trauma!) By the time Asta arrives, Harry’s completely off his rocker, clueless as to who he is and what his mission was, causing her to work overtime to keep him (and the truth) in check....

Resident Alien was one of the treats of last year. Based on the comic book by Peter Hogan and Steve Parkhouse, it remixed the original premise of a stranded alien masquerading as a country doctor into the tale of a strange visitor on a mission to end the world who just happens to make a friend via being mistaken for the doctor whose body he stole. But what happens when the alien reconsiders his mission? Does the alien – known as Harry Vanderspeigle in his human guise – embrace a newfound humanity? Also, what of the citizens of Patience, Colorado — themselves as colorful and eccentric as the extraterrestrial in their midst?

Syfy’s comedic Resident Alien returns for a second season, joined by the Buffy-lite teenage horror spoof Astrid & Lilly Save the World. (Both episodes are simulcast on USA one week only.) Reelz presents a documentary profile of rocker Meat Loaf, who passed away last week. Nature’s Animals with Cameras miniseries moves to Australia, where custom-fitted cameras gives viewers unusual access to wildlife habitats.

Resident Alien (USA Network & SYFY, 9:00pm) — Alan Tudyk (who genre fans know and love from Firefly, Rogue One, and many more entries) is still a freaking alien in this adaptation of the Dark Horse comic of the same name. If that’s not enough to stoke your curiosity, then please know that he’s also an alien who decides to become a small-town doctor as a cover for his true desire: to murder humans. Somewhere along the way, he decided to reevaluate that mission and then decided to help solve a murder. This week, Harry returns to earth but has no idea what’s up, but Asta does.

What to watch Wednesday, January 26: 'Astrid & Lilly Save the World' and 'Resident Alien' on Syfy and USA

As fans new and returning alike wait for Season 2 of SYFY's hit series Resident Alien, premiering on Jan. 26, we know you're out here binging the first season all over again – or maybe for the first time. Either way, we know you're having a blast. From Harry Vanderspeigle's (Alan Tudyk) first human transformation to the race to find his planet-destroying weapon and beyond to the pizza-eating, heart-wrenching finale, there's so much to love about creator Chris Sheridan's show, adapted from the Dark Horse comics of the same name.

If there's one thing that James Gunn knows how to do is to stand out in everything he's involved with from the top down whether it's the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise to the latest hit on HBO Max in DC's Peacemaker. Suffice it to say, you'd be hard-pressed to find any other R-rated action-comedy TV series with opening credits that feature an expressionless dance number. The one responsible for creating such a sequence is choreographer Charissa Barton, who spoke with /Film about how it came together including getting her husband involved in actor Alan Tudyk, who played a part in the dance's creation.

The first footage from Season 2 of the side-splitting sci-fi comedy "Resident Alien" has arrived, and it doesn't disappoint. While the teaser is a bit brief at just 20 seconds, Syfy has seen fit to precede it with an amusing recap of the first season and a behind-the-scenes featurette from the second season, which is expected to premiere in early 2022.
