Fourteen people have been found dead after a congregation of 33 attending a river baptism were caught in sudden flash flooding in South Africa’s Jukskei River on Saturday afternoon. Idaho police seek to question Toledo man about child's disappearance

Nearly a year and a half after 5-year-old Michael Vaughan disappeared in Idaho, local police want to question a Toledo man to determine what he might know about the child’s disappearance.  Adrien Lucienne, 32, of Toledo, was one of four people identified by the Fruitland Police Department on Thursday who might know about the boy’s disappearance.  Brandon Shurtliff, 30, Sarah Wondra, 35, and Stacey Wondra, 30, were also named as people who might have information to help solve the mystery.  The Fruitland Police Chief, J.D. Huff, said that police now believe the child was abducted, killed, and buried on a property owned by the Wondras.

Injured hiker rescued at Smith Rock State Park

On Saturday at about 1:35 PM, Deschutes County 911 received a 911 call from an injured hiker at Smith Rock State Park. The hiker had slipped and fallen on the Misery Ridge Trail. The hiker had injured her ankle and could not get back to the parking lot without assistance.

Per the Maryland State Police: An injured hunter stranded near Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge was rescued Friday by a Maryland State Police Aviation Command (MSPAC) helicopter. The crew from Trooper 6, assigned to the Easton Section, responded to the area of Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge shortly after noon on Friday. They were summoned to conduct the aerial rescue after Dorchester County emergency responders were called for a man that fell from a tree stand.

Monroe woman thanks firefighters that saved her life in apartment fire

MONROE – Anita Plater was overcome with emotion expressing her heartfelt gratitude as she came face to face with the firefighters that saved her life from an apartment fire. Twenty 20 Monroe firefighters responded to an apartment fire around 8 p.m. Nov. 23 in the 1400 block of Fairley Avenue. Crews encountered heavy smoke and fire coming out of the middle apartment of the three-unit building. Firefighters received reports there may have been occupants trapped in two of the three units.

The caller reported that his ski companion was having a ski malfunction that they could not repair in the field, and they were unable to make it back out of the location unassisted.
