Another practice squad swap for 49ers after injury to newly-signed player

The 49ers one day after adding safety Doug Middleton to their practice squad and releasing safety Kai Nacua have announced another roster move involving those two players. Middleton was placed on the practice squad injured reserve with an undisclosed injury. That opened a practice squad spot, so a day after releasing Nacua to make room for Middleton, the 49ers re-signed Nacua.

Patriots re-sign rookie kicker Quinn Nordin to practice squad

Patriots rookie kicker Quinn Nordin has cleared waivers and has re-signed to their practice squad, Bill Belichick confirmed on Friday. Nordin was placed on injured reserve after suffering an abdomen injury in Week 2 and had been designated to return this week before he was waived. The undrafted rookie impressed in training camp but ultimately lost the starting job to Nick Folk, who’s having a career season at 37 years old. The veteran has been dealing with a knee injury all season, so Nordin provides valuable depth behind him.

An unpleasant season leading to a likely unpleasant offseason for Seahawks

When ESPN published a post on a simulation of the 2021 season for the Seattle Seahawks that had the team starting 0-8, fans were up in arms. Now that the Hawks are 3-8 and staring down the first losing season for the franchise in a decade, many have begun to look past 2021 and to what the future will hold.

Seahawks sign RB Adrian Peterson, 2 others to practice squad

The Seattle Seahawks have made a few additions to their practice squad, including one very famous name at running back. Here are the three players who are joining the squad. Pete Carroll just informed the media that the team has signed running back Adrian Peterson. A first-round draft pick from 2007, Peterson (6-foot-1, 220 pounds) is a four-time All Pro and former league MVP who has played in 183 regular season games, totaling almost 15,000 rushing yards and 119 touchdowns. Peterson is past his prime but Seattle is extremely thin at running back right now. Expect him to be elevated to the active roster soon.

Bills sign Greg Stroman to the practice squad

The Bills have added to depth of their practice squad secondary on Thursday morning. Cornerback Greg Stroman was signed to the Bills practice squad. Stroman, 6-0 and 182 pounds, most recently played for the Washington Football Team. The corner has played in 20 games over three seasons and totaled one interception, four passes defensed and 34 total tackles. He has also returned six kickoffs and 10 punts for a total of 135 yards.

Bears sign Dee Virgin to their practice squad

On Wednesday the Chicago Bears signed 28-year old cornerback Dee Virgin to their practice squad to take the place of kicker Brian Johnson, who was signed by the Washington Football Team yesterday. The WFT had an injury at kicker, and this is the second time this season the Bears lost Johnson off their practice squad. If Washington waives him before three weeks, then by rule he will revert to the Bears, but even if he’s released after that I would imagine Chicago would re-sign him to their practice squad for a third time.
