Reports: Terry Stotts, Portland Trail Blazers agree to part ways

Terry Stotts is out as head coach of the Portland Trail Blazers following their latest first-round ouster, multiple outlets reported Friday. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and Yahoo’s Chris Haynes characterized the decision as mutual. Stotts leaves the Trail Blazers with the second-most wins in franchise history (402) and eight playoff appearances in his nine seasons. But four of the past five trips have ended in the first round, including the Trail Blazers’ 4-2 loss to Denver despite 34.3 points per game from Damian Lillard.

A Parting Letter from Coach Stotts

“All good things must come to an end”. An English Poet. In 2012, when I was hired as the Trail Blazers’ Head Coach, I could not have imagined the incredible ride this coaching journey would take. The extraordinary opportunity to be the Head Coach of the Blazers for the last nine years has been such an honor and privilege. It certainly has been far more than a “good thing”, and now it has come to an end.

Offseason moves for the Portland Trail Blazers: How patient can Damian Lillard be?

For the fifth time in eight seasons, the Portland Trail Blazers are heading home after an all-too-familiar first-round exit. Denver Nuggets 95, Portland Trail Blazers 115: Three takeaways

The Nuggets couldn’t carry the momentum from their impressive Game 3 victory into Game 4, suffering a 115-95 defeat to the Trail Blazers in Portland. Denver couldn’t get anything going from almost tip-off as it never led the contest and fell behind by 10 at the 3:22 mark. From there, it was largely smooth sailing for the Trail Blazers, who led by as many as 33. On a positive, Denver split its two games at the Moda Center and regained home-court advantage as a result. Two of the final games of this first-round series will be played at Ball Arena – if this is a seven-game series.

Despite 'Ultimate Confidence,' Norman Powell Is 'Never Satisfied'

Trail Blazers guard Norman Powell was just fine in the first three games of Portland’s first round playoff series versus the Denver Nuggets. Sure, his three-point shot wasn’t falling -- he combined to shoot 3-of-14 from distance -- but he was still shooting nearly 50 percent from the field while doing an admirable job of defending Nuggets forward Michael Porter Jr. despite giving up seven inches.
