Council approves rezones, variances

The Social Circle City Council approved numerous planning commission recommendations Tuesday, including a rezone for a proposed 30-lot subdivision off Alcova Drive. The council rezoned the 100-acre parcel from agricultural to residential medium density and approved the developer’s sketch plan. Reliant Homes is developing the subdivision. Lot size will range from 1.03 acres to 55.01 acres. The neighborhood would have one entrance.

Governor Murphy announces Route 9 improvement project in Woodbridge

Update from the County Commission

The Churchill County Commission meeting was unusually short last week, with Chairman Pete Olsen absent and Vice-Chair Greg Koenig presiding. There were several housekeeping issues heard by Koenig and Commissioner Justin Heath including the matter of a miscalculation of the property taxes for Old Fallon, LLC, managed by Ed Louie. The error resulted in a significant reduction in taxes billed to the Old Fallon, which compounded over several years.

With direction from the Director of Development Services, this position assists in the oversight and prioritization of tasks, strategies and goals for the Planning team. Evaluation and interpretation of existing codes and ordinances, development and implementation of long-range planning initiatives and communication with the development community are also primary duties of this position. The Assistant Director will have close interaction with and provide input to the Economic Development Department, Engineering Division and Building Permits/Inspections Division related to new development projects and recruitment of new businesses.
