With Good-Hearted ‘Back to the Outback,’ Netflix Continues to Compete Mightily in the Animated Arena

As kids, we are taught to never judge a book by its cover, but what about judging a crustacean by its shell? Jumping on the bandwagon of kids’ adventure films, Netflix’s animated romp “Back to the Outback” packs a lot of jokes into its warm and fuzzy message, though its characters are more scaly than cuddly. The film is the latest entry in Netflix’s growing slate of animated, kid-centric fare, clearly designed to compete with animation giants Pixar, Disney, and Dreamworks. And the streaming giant isn’t making a crazy bet, as its hopes to capitalize on the lucrative sphere (as it has...

A Dream Home in the Hills Outside Sonoma

“It’s magical to wake up here,” says Gretchen Krebs, relaxing on a tranquil morning with her husband Ian Read on their outdoor deck overlooking acres of dense oak woodlands. It’s the view a hawk might see, descending the steep hillside to scan the valley floor. In the distance, an antiquated water tower rises above Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa. Beyond it, the sun sets every evening behind Sonoma Mountain. (That’s when the coyotes start to howl.) But for now, the only sound is the low chatter of songbirds. “Being upstairs, our bedroom window looks out onto the landscape. The house is very thoughtful in that way, facing out toward the land.”

Disney California Adventure: The Complete Guide

The sister park to the original Disneyland, Disney California Adventure opened in 2001 as a celebration of the Golden State. While it still retains some California-centric nods (especially the lovely, retro Buena Vista Street just inside the front gate), it has morphed into a more eclectic collection of lands and attractions that draw on many of Disney’s brands. When it expanded in 2012 and added Cars Land, Disney California Adventure especially embraced the Pixar films, characters, and stories while the 2021 opening of Avengers Campus brought the Marvel universe to the park.

Disney Could Be A Huge Winner In 2022

A wave of negativity has hit Disney stock over the past few weeks post earnings. It's always amazing to me how sentiment can shift so quickly on a stock. One minute the glass is "half full" and the next minute its "half empty". However, this fickleness can provide great opportunities for investors willing to patiently wait for the tide shift again.

The buzz around Pixar’s new ‘Lightyear’ movie

Pixar’s new movie, “Lightyear” is a prequel of “Toy Story” that focuses on the real Buzz Lightyear’s previous life as a space ranger, and his rise to fame within Star Command. The movie is set to be released on June 17, 2022. It introduces the human space ranger that inspired the “Buzz Lightyear” toy that was featured in the “Toy Story” franchise. The producers of Lightyear stated that it is not a “Toy Story” spin off. The movie does not include any characters from Toy Story. Instead, it focuses on the origin of the “Buzz Lightyear” story and the adventures that the real-life Lightyear endured. They also stated that while writing “Toy Story,” they planned on providing a backstory to Lightyear in the future. This could explain Lightyear’s existential crisis in “Toy Story” about him believing that he is a real space ranger and not a toy.
