In the wake of Zach Wilson’s knee injury, the New York Jets decided to strike a deal on Monday to land veteran quarterback and Philadelphia Eagles backup Joe Flacco. The teams agreed to a trade a short while after their losses on Sunday and made the transaction official on Monday afternoon. The Jets received Flacco and sent a conditional sixth-round pick back to the Eagles in return.
Before we get to the heart of today's newsletter -- the top waiver-wire targets for Week 8 and the first look at my rankings for this week, let's quickly catch up on some of the news you need to know from the past 24 hours, beginning with what is looking like a big absence from Thursday Night Football:
Let's get right down to it and look at quarterback streaming options for your season-long lineups. Quarterback streaming isn't for everyone, but if you're in a standard league -- like a 10- or 12-team league that features just one starting signal caller -- grabbing potentially productive quarterbacks in good matchups off the waiver wire is often doable. For some roster constructions, it can even be optimal.
The Jets and the Seahawks keep losing, which means Gang Green keeps rising in the 2022 NFL draft order. With Week 7 now in the books, New York is in line for two top-seven picks: its own at No. 4, and Seattle’s at No. 7, per NFL.com. The Jets own the Seahawks’ first-rounder thanks to the Jamal Adams trade.
Jets rookie QB Zach Wilson is expected to miss 2-4 weeks with a PCL sprain, so the team acquired Joe Flacco from the Eagles. Former NFL head coach John Fox discusses the situation in New York.
Few have come close to Patrick Mahomes’ production in recent years, but Zach Wilson is his equal … in one undesirable way. The Chiefs and Jets quarterbacks are tied for the league lead in interceptions after seven weeks of play. Mahomes and Wilson both have nine picks after each left their respective games early on Sunday.
With rookie quarterback Zach Wilson spraining his PCL in the New York Jets’ loss to the New England Patriots on Sunday, former USF quarterback Mike White will have the opportunity to start for the Jets in their game Sunday. Wilson, who was drafted with the No. 2 overall pick in...
New York Jets owner Woody Johnson voiced his support for head coach Robert Saleh and general manager Joe Douglas on Tuesday. According to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, Johnson said at the NFL fall meeting that he has "unwavering, steadfast confidence" in Douglas, Saleh and the rest of the coaching staff amid a 1-5 start.

It didn’t take long for the Jets to reach the stage of a lost season when a vote of confidence from ownership is required. Appearing at his first in-person NFL owners meeting in five years — before his leave of absence to become United States’ ambassador to the United Kingdom and before COVID-19 temporarily turned the league into a virtually run operation — Jets owner Woody Johnson backed third-year general manager Joe Douglas and first-year head coach Robert Saleh.
New York Jets owner Woody Johnson believes the team will turn around sooner rather than later. During the league’s fall meeting on Tuesday, Johnson said that he has "unwavering, steadfast confidence" in general manager Joe Douglas and first-year head coach Robert Saleh. Through seven weeks, the Jets have a 1-5...
The New England Patriots had a lot to feel good about after their 54-13 win over the New York Jets in Week 7, but there were some concerns about injuries. Multiple players were banged up, with some of them unable to finish the contest. Among those was safety Devin McCourty,...

A slow start to Zach Wilson’s rookie career will now be delayed entirely. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the news, stating, "An MRI confirmed a sprained PCL for Jets’ QB Zach Wilson, who now is expected to be sidelined 2-4 weeks, per source." The Jets presently sit in third place in the AFC East with a 1-5 record after being battered by the Patriots 54-13 in Week 7. The Jets were coming out of their bye in Week 6, meaning Wilson will be afforded no free weeks to recover without missing games. The outlook for the Jets in the meantime is not a positive one.
Good morning, Gang Green Nation! I hope you’re all having a great start to the day. The timetable for Zach Wilson’s return has been announced, and it’s between 2-4 weeks for the rookie quarterback’s return. Meanwhile, Joe Douglas finally added a legitimate veteran option at the quarterback position; trading with the Philadelphia Eagles and reuniting Joe Flacco with the Jets. It’s safe to say that most people foresaw an event like this happening after the team’s refusal to add quality depth behind Zach Wilson. Of course, it came to bite them in their behind midway through a crucial season that’s been nothing but disappointment. On top of that, the team also lost multiple linebackers for extended periods of time - including Jamien Sherwood’s season-ending ACL tear. At this point, it can only go up from here. With that, here are your links to the team to start your morning.
The Jets have traded for Eagles QB Joe Flacco in exchange for a conditional sixth-round pick. Flacco (6-6, 245) spent the 2020 with the Jets, starting four games. He completed 55.2% of his passes and threw for 864 yards, 6 touchdowns and 3 interceptions before signing with Philadelphia in the offseason.

New York Jets owner Woody Johnson has no plans to short-circuit the club's latest rebuild prematurely. Speaking at the NFL's Fall League Meeting on Tuesday, Johnson said he has "unwavering, steadfast confidence" in general manager Joe Douglas and coach Robert Saleh. "We will get it right," Johnson said, per NFL...
There was a lot of quarterback news for the Jets on Monday. The team found out the fate of rookie starter Zach Wilson. Wilson suffered a knee injury in Sunday’s loss to New England that knocked him out of the game. The news is not the best imaginable, but it also is not the worst. The Jets will be without the number two overall pick for 2-4 weeks as he recovers from a sprained PCL.
The New York Jets finally bring in a veteran QB. Better late than never! Joe Flacco was with the Jets last season so he has familiarity with the organization.
