Dana White says Paulo Costa will ‘absolutely’ be a light heavyweight moving forward, Costa disagrees

Paulo Costa’s future in the UFC appears as though it will be at 205 pounds. Costa’s weight was the story that dominated UFC Vegas 41 fight week as the Brazilian showed up to Las Vegas for his main event with Marvin Vettori unable to make the middleweight limit of 186 pounds. The bout was eventually shifted to a 195-pound catchweight to accommodate Costa before shifting again into a light heavyweight contest.

Midnight Mania! Anthony Johnson slams ‘lazy’ Paulo Costa scale fail

The following story isn’t quite the irony bomb I first expected, but it’s still a bit silly. Paulo Costa’s antics at the scale certainly deserve a ton of criticism. The Brazilian appears to be intentionally making a mockery of the whole process, shifting a Middleweight fight up 20 pounds at the latest possible moments. The main event could easily have been cancelled and is only happening because Marvin Vettori is game as hell, and UFC needs its main event if anyone is going to tune into this card. Skip ahead a bit, and there’s a whole bunch of justified criticism/mockery of Costa from various pundits and athletes.

Marvin Vettori Irked By Adesanya Picking Costa To Beat Him

Marvin Vettori isn’t happy that UFC Middleweight Champion Israel Adesanya predicted that Paulo Costa will beat him later this month. Vettori and Costa will both be looking to rebound from title losses to “The last Stylebender” in their respective last fights. The pair will collide in the UFC Vegas 41 main event on October 23.

Anthony Johnson slams Paulo Costa over UFC Vegas 41 weight debacle: “I’d still try and make the weight and not be a b—h”

Anthony Johnson has slammed Paulo Costa for his recent weight debacle prior to Saturday’s UFC Vegas 41 main event. Costa (13-1 MMA) was expected to return to action in a middleweight bout against Marvin Vettori this weekend in Las Vegas. However, earlier this week ‘The Eraser’ revealed he could not make weight for the contest and the bout was subsequently moved up to light heavyweight.

Costa Is Invited To The ‘Blonde Brunson Barbecue’ After Weight Issues

Derek Brunson has given Paulo Costa an invite to the barbecue, even though he might eat all the food. It seems like almost the entire MMA community has been frustrated with Costa this week after he took his middleweight fight with Marvin Vettori and turned it into a 195lb catchweight on fight week before adding another 10lb hours before weigh-ins. While some may consider it a power move or a heel turn, the general consensus is that it is unprofessional and disrespectful to his opponent.
