I recently wrote a series of articles about the Kewanee Park District and the amount of resources it devotes to the operation of Baker Park Golf Course. The stories weren't meant to be investigative pieces, but a detailed look at the district's finances and how it makes operational and programming priorities.

Readers respond: Tualatin Hill parks should drop mask requirement

“Elsie was a woman of great vision, but even she probably couldn’t have foreseen then what her fledgling park district would become,” wrote former Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District General Manager Ron Willoughby in 2005. What Elsie Stuhr – who created the Beaverton-area park district in 1955 – probably couldn’t have foreseen was kids in 2021 running around the tennis court, wearing masks.

Fatal Traffic Crash | Park District Feedback | Men’s Golf & City Swim Meet

A Naperville man driving a motorcycle died in a traffic crash. At around 3:34 p.m., the Naperville police and fire departments arrived at Washington Street and Royce Road. The 29-year-old was traveling northbound in the left thru lane of Washington, while the car, a Dodge Durango, was turning eastbound onto Royce Road. He and the 54-year-old woman crashed in the intersection. The motorcyclist was taken to Edward Hospital and pronounced dead shortly after arriving. Police said the investigation is on-going.

Judge swears in new park board member

In 1996 Perry County Probate/Juvenile Judge Luann Cooperrider created a park district for Perry County. The board is made up of five members who are dedicated and interested in promoting parks and recreation for Perry County. The board meets the second Monday of each month at 3:30 p.m. Efforts are ongoing to seek grants and funding to promote walking trails, hiking opportunities and outdoor activities. The board is working on various projects to promote the beauty of Perry County. All members volunteer and encourage public recommendations. The Perry County Park District has sponsored hikes, biking opportunities, telescope events and many more. Pictured above is the newest member to the Park Board, Fred Redfern. Fred is from the Crooksville area of Perry County. The board has representation from all areas of Perry County.

"I found it!" April Holly Smith called out. Word that she found a geocache along the trail at Towner's Woods Park in Ravenna sparked excitement in the group traveling with her. River Corridor Foundation taking on Langum Park project in St. Charles

The River Corridor Foundation of St. Charles has its next major project slated for Langum Park along the eastern bank of the Fox River.
