Mountain lion hunting to close Saturday in 2 units

MISSOULA, Mont. — Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks officials announced the closure of mountain lion hunting in two units effective half an hour after sunset this Saturday. Hunting for female mountain lions will close in management unit 120 and hunting for male mountain lions will close in management unit 331.

I’m writing about a three-day experience I had the weekend before Wisconsin’s deer-gun season, at my hunting camp in northern Juneau County, Wisconsin. The camp is on public land. With as many as 25 friends and family called “The Red Brush Gang” we built an 18-foot by 36-foot pole barn that is home for two weeks. We then dismantled it on the final Sunday of deer-gun season.

Strong Opening Weekend For Maryland Deer Firearm Season

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Maryland Department of Natural Resources announced that hunters reported 10,116 deer taken on the opening weekend of the 2022 Maryland firearm season, Nov. 26-27. Despite bad weather on Sunday, the overall harvest was just 3% lower than last year’s official opening weekend harvest of 10,446 deer.

December CWD hunt offers additional harvest opportunities

Following confirmation of CWD-positive deer in Bemidji area,. Deer permit area 184 near Bemidji is being added to other DPAs in southeastern Minnesota and the south metropolitan area where hunters can harvest deer during a late-season chronic wasting disease management hunt, according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. DPA 184 is being added to the hunt after a deer harvested there this fall tested positive for CWD.
