UPDATE: USCCB general secretary resigns; reports allege ‘possible improper behavior’

The election of Msgr. Jeffrey D. Burrill as the new general secretary of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops is projected on a screen Nov. 16, 2020, during the bishop's fall virtual general assembly. Msgr. Burrill resigned that post July 20, 2021, amid "impending media reports alleging possible improper behavior." In announcing the resignation, Archbishop José H.
