Nvidia RTX 2060 12GB upgrade cards not getting Founders Editions

Thanks to the current market desperation, we were talking about Nvidia’s 12GB upgrades of cards like the RTX 2060 since long before they were officially announced. It feels like an odd choice for the company to still be releasing Turing architecture cards, but with everyone scrambling to get whatever they can in the shortage, these were looking like a ray of light.

The specs of the supposed Nvidia RTX 2060 12 GB have been revealed

Nvidia is bringing back the RTX 2060, a product which was released in January 2019, with the 2060 Super coming the summer of that year. However, this won’t be just a re-release of a nearly-three-year-old graphics card, as it’s been given a memory boost and some slight performance increases in other areas as well. Instead of the 6 GB of RAM that the original GPU had, this new iteration will have twice as much, with 12 GB of GDDR6. This even beats the Super, which had 8 GB of RAM.

Nvidia Confirms There Will Be No 12GB 2060 Founders Edition

Unlike AMD who often tends to regularly allow its AIB partners to handle the design of their lower-tier graphics cards, generally speaking, Nvidia has nearly always launched some kind of ‘Founders Edition’ model. Admittedly, not all the time, but often enough for most people to presume that the upcoming revised 2060, featuring 12GB of VRAM, was probably going to get some kind of ‘in-house’ release.

Nvidia officially makes the 12GB GeForce RTX2060 official

How hard is it to get a new graphics card right now? It’s hard enough that Nvidia is literally sending its product line backward. After weeks of rumors, a new version of the GeForce RTX 2060 — which was first released in January of 2019 — appeared on the official Nvidia spec page. It has double the GDDR6 RAM, a whopping 12GB, and slightly more CUDA cores. It is not known when it will be available, nor what the price will be. However, “soon” or “more than you need” are likely to be the answers.

Nvidia RTX 2060 12GB Price Concerns After Founders Edition Dispute

When Nvidia released the RTX 2060 with 12GB of RAM, fans rejoiced. But when Team Green listed the GPU on its website and then withdrew it, leaving no doubt that it will not make its own version, things got a little strange. Let’s take this one step at a time....
