SARANAC | A local man is behind bars after he allegedly assaulted and threatened someone during a domestic altercation. On Nov. 28, New York State Police troopers were called to a Route 3 residence at about 7:30 p.m. after Wayne M. Goddeau Jr. allegedly menaced and assaulted someone while a child was present in the home.

Fatal crash: 11-year-old killed in crash on Route 8 in Brookfield

An 11-year-old boy was killed Monday evening after the vehicle he was in struck a tow truck in Madison County, according to a release from New York State Police. Troopers were dispatched just before 6 p.m. to the town of Brookfield, where an investigation revealed an SUV driven by 29-year-old Abner G. Padilla of Utica struck a parked flatbed tow truck while traveling south on Route 8. Police said the truck was partially parked in the road but had all lights activated.
