Report: Patriots make defensive linemen available for trade

The New England Patriots have some work to do ahead of Tuesday's 4 p.m. ET deadline to trim rosters to 53 players. Could another trade be part of that work?. The Patriots have "solicited interest in their defensive line depth" prior to Tuesday's deadline, Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer reported Monday, noting that defensive tackles Montravius Adams and Akeem Spence are names to watch.

Patriots at Giants preseason final score: New England's defense gives Daniel Jones fits early in win

The Patriots and Giants put a bow on the preseason on Sunday night with New England getting the better of New York at MetLife Stadium, 22-20. If the pecking order in this game was any indication, Cam Newton will likely be the team's starter to begin the regular season. He started and played the entire first quarter behind the starting offensive line and completed two of his five throws for 10 yards and an interception. While those numbers aren't anything to write home about, this interception was more of a credit to Giants linebacker Blake Martinez, who was able to muscle the ball away from Jakobi Meyers.

New England Patriots Postgame Quotes 8/29

Opening Statement: It was, I think, another good learning night for us here. Saw a lot of guys competing tonight, competing for playing time, competing for jobs. It was impressive to see on both sides. Kind of like last week, this capped off a really good week for us with the Giants practices and then tonight. It's a good opportunity over the course of that time to really see everybody, give everybody a chance to play and compete against good competition, against another good football team. I look forward to seeing the film and seeing how things turned out, but I feel like we made progress through the preseason. Still, there's more work to do – obviously, that's clear – but (we're) heading in the right direction. We'll just keep grinding and just kind of see where this takes us, but (we'll) start to turn our attention towards regular season games now. I know everybody will be looking forward to those – those will be coming up soon.

4 Keys from Patriots preseason finale win over Giants

The Patriots closed out the 2021 preseason with a 22-20 win over the New York Giants. It was a similar kind of game to the previous two, with a mix of reps and opportunities, and limited action for many of the top players. Decoding who will or won't make the initial 53-man roster remains a tough task, but for the 81 players still currently on the roster, the game was a fine cap to a summer that felt like a return to normal.

New England Patriots: Matt Judon has 2021 NFL DOPY written all over him

If the preseason is any indication, the New England Patriots have themselves a great addition in linebacker Matt Judon. Signed to a four-year deal worth $56 million in the offseason, the 6-foot-3, 260-pound edge rusher has already demonstrated his value when he has been on the field in the preseason. He’s energetic, he’s versatile and most importantly he is all for the team, which is rubbing off on veteran players like Dont’a Hightower and younger players like Josh Uche.

Patriots 2021 roster breakdown: Byron Cowart faces an uncertain future

With training camp and preseason underway, the New England Patriots are fully “on to 2021.”. The team currently has 80 players under contract, but only 53 of them will be able to survive roster cutdowns in August and September and ultimately make the active team. Over the course of spring and summer, just like we have in years past, we are taking a look at the players fighting for those spots to find out who has the best chances of helping the Patriots bounce back from what was a disappointing 7-9 season last year.
